~~In collaborating with the Conservatory of Performing Arts, the Confucius Institute at the University of Regina offered a four-day winter camp named "Catch the Dragon's Tail, Learn About Chinese Games" during Feb. 18th to 22nd.
As its name implies, this camp is all about various Chinese children's games. The campers were having fun together as they participated in various exciting Chinese games, arts and crafts, such as flying kites, playing ping pong, making a pinwheel, robe jumping, making Chinese ceramic, paper-cutting, and a lot more. Moreover, the camp provided martial arts and dragon dance experiential activities. The campers learned a set of Chinese martial arts routines and some basic movements of the dragon dance and presented their learning at the closing ceremony that won great applause from the audience.
The amazing moments of the four-day winter camp were quick to end, and the institute prepared certificates of completion, mouse dolls and photo albums to give each camper a memento of their experience from the camp. Campers and their parents have unanimously approved the relatively successful attempt of the theme-based camp. In the future, the Confucius Institute at the University of Regina will conduct more interesting cultural activities based on the experience of previous camps and feedback from campers and parents to further promote and improve the community's understanding and recognition of Chinese culture.
