In partnership with the Conservatory at the University of Regina, a five-day Chinese Drama Camp was held by the Confucius Institute at the University of Regina on April 22nd to April 26th, 2019. The Mouse Bride, an ancient Chinese folktale is adapted as the central theme of the drama camp, and the campers brought it alive onto the stage as their culminating activity. The campers showed their creativity and teamwork through script writing, singing, and stage set-up that improved their craft in drama presentation. Furthermore, the campers incorporated popular English music and songs into the story that created a fusion of Western and Chinese Culture. The Chinese Drama Camp did their presentation in front of other Conservatory camps participants and their parents wherein about one hundred people in total attended the show. The vibrant performance by the campers and the remarkable plot twist gathered applause from the delighted audience.
