The Confucius Institute in Edmonton visited the Confucius Institute at the University of Regina

Last April 5th-6th, Mr. Li Wei and Mr. Wang Jinjun, two directors of the Confucius Institute in Edmonton (CIE) , led 23 people  to visit the Confucius Institute at the University of Regina(URCI).

The Confucius Institute in Edmonton (CIE) was established in 2008, based on a basic educational system from Kindergarten to Grade 12, is quite different from most of Institutes around the world that are associated with universities, such as the Confucius Institute at the University of Regina. The CIE was placed in Edmonton in partnership with its host, Edmonton Public Schools, as a result of EPSB’s international reputation in Chinese language education. The strong partnership with the Edmonton Public School Board has allowed CIE to grow and also serve not only Edmonton Public Schools, but many agencies in the community and other schools and post secondary institutions across the region. The CIE supports currently 21 Confucius Classrooms.

The Confucius Institute at the University of Regina shared to CIE their services, construction and development of the Institute, Chinese teaching and cultural activities.  The two institutes carried out in-depth exchanges and discussions for future Chinese promotion, the structure of the teaching staff and the strategy of the Confucius Institute.  The participants expressed that the exchange of learning broadens their visions, and expand their thinking. More so, provides a good reference for breaking through themselves, and better development for both Institutes. Both institutes hope to have another exchange and learn more from each other to work together on their differences, and are looking forward to more in-depth cooperation in the future.
