The Confucius Institute at the University of Regina Was Invited to Asian Culture Celebration

On March 15, 2019, as an invited host, the Confucius Institute at the University of Regina participated in ESL the Asian Culture Celebration and held some Chinese cultural activities.

The Confucius Institute held five traditional Chinese activities — Beijing Opera Masks Printing, Table Tennis, Mahjong, Dough Figuring and Pitch-Pot— which were loved by the teachers and students. Many of the participants had a shoot at the Chinese national ball, Table Tennis. Pitch-Pot, which turned out to be not as simple as it seemed, aroused everyone’s desire to have a try.  The activity of Dough Figuring also attracted participants’ attention. Quite a few visitors sat down and created their favourite figures with traditional Chinese steamed flour dough. Mahjong is the quintessence of China. Many of the Asian students already had experience with it and those who were there for their first try quickly joined the game after a brief training by the staff and had a lots of fun. They commented that playing Mahjong is also a good way to learn how to read numbers in Chinese.

The Confucius Institute at the University of Regina had always devoted into the construction of the multicultural campus community and organized or participated in various cultural activities on the campus.
