The Confucius Institute Held 2016 Chinese Culture Camp

          The Confucius Institute at the University Regina organizes a “Chinese Language and Cultural Summer Camp” for the elementary school students in Regina. 11 students from the Regina city participated in the camp and experienced rich Chinese study curriculum and cultural activities. The Chinese language study courses were arranged in the morning. The camp studies the elementary Chinese, under the guidance of language instructors from the Confucius Institute, which includes such contents as numerals, time, color, animal, Chinese holiday and geography knowledge. The cultural experience arrangement carries on in the afternoon. Activities include singing Chinese song, the Chinese ink and wash painting, the paper-cut, Peking opera face makeup, the lantern handcrafting, outdoor kite flight, martial arts, Weiqi, and Chinese movie.

          Teachers from the Confucius Institute and well-trained college student volunteers provide counseling for the elementary school students in the camp. The way of learn through playing, stimulates enthusiasm to study and promotes understanding of Chinese culture.
