On April 14, 2016,the Confucius Institute at the University of Regina held a “Chinese bridge” Chinese speech contest. The contestants were arranged into two curriculum groups: level-100 and level-200, which corresponds to the primary and the intermediate level. 4 professors at the Confucius Institute and U of R form the appraisal committee. More than 30 students from the Regina area participated in the contest. The lecture content comes from completely the student original work. The grading is in accordance with the subject content, fluency and express performance. Finally, the speech “I like my home” by Quyen Ta won the first prize for level-200. The short drama "Asks for absent and Go to see a doctor", jointly performed by Canadian student Brianna Ludwig, Jessamy Ungar and Man Kit Ma, won the first prize for level-100.
