The Confucius Institute Held 2016 Spring Festival Gala in Regina

       On January 22, the Confucius Institute at the University of Regina and the Chinese Student and Scholar Association jointly held a 2016 Spring Festival Gala, with Respon Wealth Management Corp., in Saskatchewan Conexus Arts Centre. Ralph Goodale, Canadian Member of Parliament and Minister of Public Safety, Yang Xinyu, Minister-Counsellor(Education) from Chinese Embassy in Ottawa, Louise Greenberg, Deputy Minister of Saskatchewan Higher Education, Barbara Young, Deputy Mayor of Regina City, Vianne Timmons, President of the University of Regina attended this activity.
        Warm audiences arrived at the Conexus Art Center in the afternoon. With enthusiasm, they visited the calligraphy and painting display, watched tea skill show, experienced shuttlecock-kicking, played lantern-riddles, and participated in the quiz of Chinese riddles. The atmosphere in the scene is vigorous.
        Campbell Collegiate school band starts the prologue of Spring Festival Gala with Canadian folk song “Eskimo lullaby” and “Land of Silver Birch”. The entire programs show various forms of rich contents, transmit a cheerful, auspicious and pleasant atmosphere to the audiences. “Chinese Kungfu Fan” performed by Chinese Professor Association at the University of Regina has demonstrated the Tai Chi spirit and ShaoLin Kungfu merit. Kids from the summer camp class of Confucius Institute played Hulusi “Mary had a little ram”, and “the rattle-drum” played by Yuan-yuan chorus have brought children's sounds of nature. The “Yimeng mountain in minor” and the “Sky road” by guest singer Zhang Hong have unfolded the beauty of motherland in east and west region. The Canadian student’s song “Flame in the winter” and “The hometown cloud” have aroused the audience's sentiment of homesickness. The classical dance “girls in peach garden”, “the raining lane in small town” and the ethnic minority dances “Charm of Yi village”, “Clouds in Changbai Mountain” by Confucius Institute dance group unfolded the beauty of art, costumes and music of Chinese dance, which won the audience warm applauses.
