The Glamour of Canada

Photography Contest Award by the Confucius Institute at the University of Regina

Canada is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. Its vast territory, unique landscapes and diverse cultures attract millions of visitors each year.  Yet most of the times we are unaware of these amazing beauties when you passing by a particular place or event.

The Confucius Institute at the University of Regina is an educational organization that helps Canadian students to learn Chinese language so as to enhance cultural exchange and understanding. We encourage every person at the University of Regina and the communities at large to use their cameras whenever they can to record the glamour of Canada, including its landscape scenery, its people and its culture. Confucius Institute hosted this photography contest on the “Confucius Day” of September 27, 2014 to promote educational awareness of nature and culture. The Confucius Institute organized a panel of experts, which selected 16 photos for printing and exhibition at U of R campus.

Top winners were decided by voting from visitors at the exhibition. The exhibition closed on October 30, First prize goes to “Manitoba Fields”, second prizes go to “Morning Mist on Lake Louis”, and third prizes go to “Saskatchewan Sunset” and “Wascana Winter”.  Certificates of prize, bearing the LOGO of Confucius Institute, were issued to the winners at the Chinese New Year celebration show of Chinese Student and Scholar Association on January 31, 2015. Many students at the University of Regina appreciated this contest and enjoyed the exhibition.
